DESIGN INSPIRATION - August 2009 -
. From your friends at ALL IN THE DETAILS INTERIOR DESIGN
|
PATTI ANN MARIE
Welcome to the inaugural issue of
our newsletter.
What a year! We've all learned valuable lessons, as we
head back on the road to economic normalcy. We've learned "Less is more." We've
learned our home is our refuge. We've
learned the importance of the simple pleasures our homes provide when enjoying
the camaraderie of family and friends in an inviting environment.
With this said, the design and
building professions are responding to these reassessments of the homeowners
needs. Opportunities are now limitless
for you to incorporate maximum livability using practical space planning,
customization, and technology.
Our future newsletters will feature articles
and links focusing on innovative products and services that optimize
organization, using the latest technology, and changing how you'll live in your
home. We'll provide information on
energy-saving products that still allow you to indulge your need for
creature comforts. Finally, we'll update
you on environmentally friendly furniture, textiles, and paints -- products that
rise to your needs for style, with practicality. We hope our love of interior design
translates into information that is perfect, yet pragmatic, for your home and
lifestyle.
Enjoy! ....and of course, we'd love your feedback.
Warmly,
Patti and Ann Marie

Why It Makes Sense to Use Outdoor Fabrics ... Inside Your Home
Perhaps you've heard of Sunbrella fabrics... they are impervious to fading, mildew and stains while water beads up and wipes off with ease. Sunbrella is actually a trademark name
for the first outdoor fabric to hit the market, similar to Kleenex
being synonymous with tissues. Today, fabric technology has improved so that outdoor fabrics are no longer stiff and uncomfortable but can be found in some surprising fabrics including chenilles, damasks and velvets, allowing them to be soft and drapey. Many sensible and economy- minded people are using them indoors as a family-friendly armor against dirt, kids and pets. And there is no longer a need to close the blinds on sunny days to protect your furniture from fading!
We have a beautiful selection of outdoor fabrics in many
patterns and colors - not just the awning stripes and matching solids you see in catalogs selling patio and boat cushions. With hundreds of fabrics to choose from and our custom fabrication, why not let your imagination go wild - both inside and outside your home!

Bathrooms are becoming the favorite room in the house! So every day you're embracing more healthy choices in your life... but has your bathroom caught up with the lifestyle you've embraced? Here are some of the wellness trends we are watching:
Organic Designs: Intricate designs and bathroom products utilizing straight lines and right angles are a thing of the past. Bathrooms are featuring soft, flowing lines that have a clean and sleek look. Round and oval shapes are popular for sinks and bathtubs. Even toilets are becoming more rounded. These design elements are not only more eye-pleasing, but also benefit our health. Limited lines and details are easier to keep clean and don't allow bacteria to collect. Without the sharp lines and edges, younger members or aging members of the household don't have to be concerned about coming into contact with things that go "bump in the night."
High-tech Toilets: The toilet has been the most over-looked item in the creation of the modern bathroom, but no more! The latest toilet has two cleaning wands that provide heated water cleansing much like a separate bidet would. Additionally, the heated seat has three temperature settings, a warm-air fan for partial drying, a deodorizer that minimizes odors, a lighted bowl for soft illumination and even a quiet-close seat system. Toasty Toes: One of the ultimate luxuries in bathrooms is the many items that come warmed for the user's comfort. One popular area to achieve this option is in the flooring. Heating can be installed under a variety of flooring including stone, tile, vinyl, carpet and even reclaimed woods. But the heating trend doesn't stop there: heated towel racks, heated chairs and of course, the toilet seats. Heat can be therapeutic and generally make the bathroom more comfortable on a cold New England morning.
Now, add aromatherapy candles and an integrated sound system and your bathroom becomes a retreat for health...and relaxation.
